“The Complete Set” quest in Control Resonant will have you searching for altered speakers around Manhattan.
During the quest, you need to find a total of four speakers and a subwoofer, but need to visit multiple zones to grab them all. To make things worse, these speakers have explosive sound waves that will knock you away when you try to pick them up. To top it all off, you need to set up the speakers in their proper positions and make a difficult decision: should you turn the subwoofer volume up or turn it off?
Here’s how to finish “The Complete Set” quest in Control Resonant, along with where to find every speaker and how to complete the ritual.
‘The Complete Set’ quest walkthrough in Control Resonant
There are a few ways to start “The Complete Set” quest in Control Resonant, but we recommend going to the Collector’s Apartment, which can be found in the southwestern street of Central. There will be a black FBC van parked just outside its entrance.
Once inside, go into the open apartment on the second floor, and pick up the “Interested in Collectibles” paper on the ground and the “Peter, Nina and Lester” tape recording on the phone. This will start “The Complete Set” quest, and you’ll be on your way to finding the altered speakers.
Throughout the quest, you’ll complete the following objectives:
- Search nearby for the speaker.
- Investigate the Museum of Curiosities.
- Investigate the Auction House.
- Investigate the Auction Buyer’s Apartment.
- Find the confiscated subwoofer.
- Solve the speaker set puzzle in the Auction House.
Below we explain how to complete each step of “The Complete Set” quest in Control Resonant.
Where to find the nearby speaker in Control Resonant
The nearby speaker can be found in the alleyway just in front of the Collector’s Apartment building. It’ll be in between a couple of dumpsters and beside the “Museum Flyer” collectible.
Before you interact with the speaker, you should know that it will let off a blast that will knock you back and deal damage to you. If you’re very low health from the mine-riddled street, try to heal up as much as you can. For this section, the speaker will waddle off into the nearby construction area and let off blasts periodically. It’ll go around the area in a predetermined path and pause for short periods of time along the way. First, watch the speaker and take note of where it stops. Your goal is to interact with the speaker when it pauses so you can contain it. You won’t have much time to contain it, so make sure you rush in as soon as the speaker stops in place.
After you pick it up, you’ll need to head to the Museum of Curiosities.
How to investigate the Museum of Curiosities puzzle in Control Resonant
To get to the Museum of Curiosities in Control Resonant, you must first complete the Incursion Fault inside the Parking Garage to unlock Shift. This will allow you to shift your gravity, so that you can walk on vertical roads and upside-down buildings. Go up the vertical road south of the House of Mirrors and follow it to its end where you’ll find the Museum of Curiosities on your left.
When you get there, you’ll realize that the door is blocked off by a Hiss barrier that doesn’t go away after you defeat the enemies in the area. To get rid of it, follow the red trails coming out of the barrier to a Hiss node and destroy them. There are three Hiss nodes, with locations we’ve marked with stars on the image above:
- On a vertical road just south of the Museum of Curiosities
- On a vertical road west of the Museum of Curiosities
- At the end of an alleyway with lasers northeast of the Museum of Curiosities
After you destroy all three, you’re free to go into the Museum of Curiosities. Grab the “Museum Workers’ Notes” collectible on the counter and read the signs around the room, but the main goal is, of course, the speaker at the back. After you press the red button, the speaker will start blasting off around the room again. Like before, take note of its path, wait for it to stop, then interact with it to contain it.
Once you pick it up, you’ll now have SINKKI D50 Speaker 4 and 2, leaving just a few more speakers to go. Now you’ll need to head to the Auction House to find another.
How to investigate the Auction House in Control Resonant
Make your way to the Auction House in Downtown. Use Shift to go up the vertical roads northwest of the Oldest House, and go to the southeast building in the Dense Patterning area. Defeat the heavy enemies on the roof to get rid of the Hiss barrier blocking the door, and go inside.
After you go down the first flight of stairs, you’ll find a woman who is standing by a table. Before you interact with her, pick up “The SINKKI D50 Speaker Set” collectible on the desk to her north. You’ll need this note to solve a puzzle later on. Then, grab the “There’s People In There” tape recording next to the couch. This will give you your next objective: investigate the Auction Buyer’s Apartment.
But first, interact with the woman (or just wait long enough), and the speaker in the corner of the room will start its usual explosive journey. As always, watch its path, wait for it to stop, and then pick it up. After, you’ll talk to Zoe, who will also give you another objective: ask Langston about the confiscated subwoofer. Both objectives are in Central, but Langston will have you go to another area, so complete the Auction Buyer’s Apartment objective first.
How to investigate the Auction Buyer’s Apartment in Control Resonant
Go to the eastern portion of the Central zone and make your way to the southeastern corner, where you’ll find the Auction Buyer’s Apartment building. Go upstairs to the top floor and grab the “Exchange Location Note” collectible by the entrance to the apartment. This will direct you to the coffee shop to the southwest.
Head inside the café, where you’ll find another speaker. It’ll do its usual bouncing around, so wait for it to stop and then contain it.
Where to find the confiscated subwoofer in Control Resonant
Return to Langston, who is west of the Field Office in Central. He’ll tell you that the subwoofer is in the storage room in the Oldest House, and give you the keycard to unlock it.
The storage room can be found on the way to Executive Research. After you get out of the second elevator, turn left, and you’ll find the storage room in the corner. Interact with the subwoofer, which will cause it to go berserk like the other speakers, but enemies will also spawn. We recommend dealing with the enemies first as the subwoofer will also deal damage to them. After the enemies are gone, wait for the subwoofer to stop and pick it up.
Now that you have the entire speaker set, head back to the Auction House in Downtown.
How to solve the speaker set puzzle in the Auction House in Control Resonant
After you make it to the Auction House, place the speaker set onto the brown couch by the woman. Now, you’ll need to set up the speakers by placing them in their right positions. Remember the “SINKKI D50 Speaker Set” collectible that you found on the desk nearby? It’ll tell you where you need to put the four speakers and the subwoofer:
- Place one speaker on a glass surface.
- Place another speaker on a rocky surface.
- Place a third speaker on raw wood.
- Place a fourth speaker on the color blue.
- Ensure that the subwoofer is in direct contact with water.
The steps are numbered, but you can do these in any order.
Luckily, every speaker and subwoofer location can be seen from the couch:
- Glass table on the first floor
- Pallet of black rock on the stage
- Bench on the second floor
- Blue tarp on the second floor
- Puddle of water in front of the couch on the second floor
After you place all the speakers in their positions, you have to turn all of them off except for the subwoofer. You can do this in any order, just wait for the speakers to stop blasting and turn them off.
From here, you must decide: should you turn up the subwoofer volume to open the gate or turn it off to close it.
Should you turn the subwoofer volume up or turn it off in Control Resonant?
The voices from the subwoofer will beg you to turn up the volume, but the civilian’s voice will beg you to turn it off. Regardless of your decision here, you’ll receive the same reward, the untapped bout guard artifact, so don’t feel the need to pick one option over the other based on your reward.
If you decide to turn up the volume, you’ll ignore the civilian’s wishes and open the gate, bringing the civilian back to the body, but you’ll soon realize the voice you’ve been talking to is not the owner of the body in the Auction House. You’ve allowed something through the gate and into this poor woman’s body, but you tell them that the FBC will take care of it in your stead.
If you decide to turn the subwoofer off, the civilian’s body will drop dead onto the floor. You’ll talk to Zoe about it, but she’ll tell you that you may have saved a few lives in the process by closing the gate.
As for what happens after, there’s not much more to discover. You won’t find the civilian later on in the story, nor will you figure out what came out of the gate.
