Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s happening, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. It’s our newest way of getting the week’s hottest events, news, and details about the city all wrapped into one place. This is Edmonton’s first edition of the series, and let me tell you, it’s going to be a good one.
Without further ado, let’s get into what’s trending this week. Not to mention, what you’re absolutely going to have to send to your group chat.
What’s trending, Edmonton?
It’s the season to start reading
The weather is finally starting to clear up, after many, many false springs. This means you can get outdoors and enjoy your new (or continued) journey of reading.
Don’t worry, though. If you’re just getting started and don’t know where to get a new or used copy of the book you’ve been dying to read, we’ve got you covered. We’ve rounded up a bunch of the best bookstores in Edmonton to get a good novel, memoir, or something in a different vein of literature.
Flowers are beginning to bloom
It’s graduation season, which means a lot of folks are going to be looking for that perfect spot for photos. Or, maybe, you’re getting engaged, or married, or just want a good picture for the girlies. We get it, truly.
Luckily, it’s also that time of year when the flowers on the trees are starting to bloom. Though it depends on the weather not dropping again. We got a list of spots that are sure to get you the prettiest picture. Still, we’d recommend keeping an eye on the forecast.
Speaking of flowers… Muttart Conservatory’s plant sale is back!
Every year, the Muttart Conservatory holds an online plant sale. With this sale, you can browse the extensive list of plants and flora on its website and purchase them for pick up at the physical pyramids. Although it isn’t this week, you might want to put it on your calendar, as this is a very popular sale in the city.
If you’re antsy and waiting for the coveted list of plants to drop, don’t stress. You’ll be able to view the plants ahead of the sale, as previews are held online from April 25 to 29.
Expect this popular experience to come to West Edmonton Mall
You might have seen it online before, but the Museum of Illusions is a visual and sensory experience, shifting your perspective one way and then the other. It opened in 2015, and now it’s finally made its way to Edmonton after over 10 years of success.
Although not much information is known to the public yet, you can bet we’ll give you the details as soon as we know. Keep an eye out, folks.
The Alberta Aviation Museum will be adults-only for this spectacular game night
No kids, no problem.
Get your tickets to this adults-only game night happening May 1 at, you guessed it, the Alberta Aviation Museum. You’ll literally be surrounded by history while you drink, dance, and game the night away. It’ll be a great time, just you wait.
