The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (Aug. 18)

18 August 20263 Mins Read

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

We’ve got a great lineup of events and news to know ahead of the week coming up. From new stores hitting the city to exciting festivals taking over, there’s loads of things going on worth talking about.

Edmonton’s group chat is here to help you and your friends get all the details, so there’s no need to wait; let’s get into all the information, folks.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

Finally, a week with sun ahead of us

The week coming up in Edmonton is looking absolutely fabulous, with only one day of rain on Sunday in comparison to the many we’ve had recently.

This upcoming Wednesday, we can expect a high of 26 degrees Celcius, but that isn’t the highest we’ll be getting this week. Heading into the weekend, we’ll actually see a high of 27 degrees Celcius on both Friday and Saturday. Finally, we’ll get to see a bit of that summer weather.

Take advantage of that nice weather by visiting Edmonton’s River Valley

According to the City of Edmonton, the River Valley is the largest urban parkland in North America and is 22 times the size of Central Park. From leisurely strolls and picnics to exhilarating bike rides and paddles, there’s so much to do in this beautiful landscape.

There are currently 20 parks within the valley, with all of them offering their own unique advantages. If you want to check them out, the City of Edmonton actually made a list of their own popular recommendations for which park to go to for what activity you’re planning.

Look out, music lovers… Sunrise Records has reopened at West Edmonton Mall

This hub for music, movies, and everything entertainment has reopened in a brand-new location found in Phase One of West Edmonton Mall. The new-and-improved location was highly anticipated, featuring a larger store layout as well as a brighter atmosphere to check out all the goods.

Horizon Drive-In keeps adding more and more shows to their lineup

Following the second run of the drive-in movies at Edmonton Valley Zoo, Horizon Drive-In has just added a whole load more shows to get ready for this September.

Whether it’s iconic Superbad or the terrifying A Quiet Place, there’s a great lineup of films ahead to enjoy. If you’re looking for something family-friendly, Cars and Jurassic Park will be featured as well!

There’s also an all-new m coming to Edmonton

Southwest Edmonton is going to be lighting up this August with some incredible energy, all thanks to Ignite Market’s first-ever event.

With the market partnering alongside a carnival provider, this year brings exciting game areas filled with tons of prizes for folks to win during the weekend. In addition to the carnival, there will also be a bunch of food and shopping vendors to visit as well as live performances taking the stage.
