The Toronto Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (April 28)

28 April 20264 Mins Read

Hey, Toronto! Your group chat is popping off. And we’re here to keep the good times going. Welcome to another week of the Toronto Group Chat. This is your weekly rundown of the city’s biggest and hottest updates. Here, you’ll find all the stuff you actually want to share in your group chat. Every week, we’re dishing out five must-know highlights of what’s going on in the city.

Maybe people are already talking about it, or maybe you’ll start the conversation? Let your crew know.

Check out what’s new in Toronto. Let’s get into it.

Did you hear, Toronto?

Rumour has it that Black Coffee is coming back to Toronto

So here’s the tea. Apparently, Black Coffee, you know, the DJ known for songs like Superman and The Rapture, will be headlining a new music series launching in Toronto this year. The details are still being worked on, but what I know is that the event will be held at the Port Lands on July 6 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Organizers are saying it’s not a club nor a festival, but more of a new venue experience. Think UNVRS and Ushuaïa in Ibiza. And if you know what that is, this is the event for you. Black Coffee will kick off the series, and more DJs are set to be announced. We’ll have more details about this to share with you soon.

Aritzia just upgraded its Eaton Centre store, and it’s celebrating big

My pockets are already hurting. Aritzia got a facelift and opened its newly upgraded (and expanded) storefront inside the Toronto Eaton Centre. The new boutique not only offers shoppers an elevated retail experience but also brings its popular A-OK Cafe to the downtown core.

To celebrate the long-awaited opening, the new boutique has a few offerings worth driving in for.

Now until Sunday, May 3, shoppers can satisfy their sweet tooth with the Prime Seafood Palace x A-OK Sundae collab. It’s a decadent, chocolate surprise, topped with edible gold flakes and the cutest pup-shaped cookie.

This location is Ontario’s first to offer soft-serve ice cream, along with a curated menu of gourmet drinks and locally baked goods.

In addition to that, now until Wednesday, April 29, if you spend $200 or more, you can receive an Aritzia bag charm. They’re available while supplies last and limited to one gift per customer.

Now we’re talking! $30 concerts this summer

We’re outside all summer long. Summer of Live, presented by Live Nation, is back this year, offering $30 tickets to over 300 shows across Canada.

Starting April 29 and through May 5, fans can get their hands on concert tickets in Canada for less than what they’d spend at the movie theatre.

Some of the shows you can catch for $30 include Ne-Yo & Akon, Sean Paul, Summer Walker and even The Pussycat Dolls. Like, are you kidding me?

More music festivals in Toronto? Yes, please!

Get this: a free music festival with Alessia Cara, Feist, Broken Social Scene, and more coming to Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square this spring.

Catch us at Nathan Phillips on Saturday, June 6, for TOgether for Toronto Healthcare. This is a free one-day music and wellness festival featuring an impressive lineup of Canadian talent.

Your June plans are starting to shape up.

Mexico meets Toronto at Silent H

That trip to Mexico will have to wait, sorry. Chef Gerardo Álvarez from Silent H is welcoming Chef Rodrigo Rivera-Río of Koli Cocina de Origen, a Michelin-recognized restaurant in Monterrey, for an eight-course dining experience.

Each chef will showcase four courses from their own kitchen, served side by side, offering two styles of Northern Mexican cuisine without fusion or compromise.

OpenTable resos are open now.

That’s all for now, Toronto. Don’t worry, we’re sure we’ll have more deets to share next week.
