The Vancouver International Film Festival is hiring for a range of roles right now

22 May 20263 Mins Read

Heads up, movie lovers. The Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) is hiring for several roles, and landing one could make you feel like walking the red carpet.

The registered charity is currently hiring for a number of jobs that begin this summer, and several are partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program.

You’ll also be part of a team helping to bring one of the largest film festivals in North America to life when it returns to screens around Vancouver this fall.

“With a diverse and impactful festival and year-round program that boasts over 1500 annual screenings and events, VIFF has become the most prolific and engaging cinematic entity in the region,” said the Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society, which is also the operator of the VIFF Centre.

This year’s VIFF will run from Oct. 1 to 11, with hundreds of films, live talkbacks, performances, and more.

According to the Department of Canadian Heritage, the festival is also known as one of the five biggest of its kind on the continent.

As the roles are partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, you must be 15 to 30 years old at the start of employment to be eligible.

Open positions at VIFF include the Customer Service and Marketing Coordinator.

The candidate will be responsible, among other duties, for supporting daily box office operations, including ticket sales, exchanges and refunds, and handling customer inquiries.

The organization is looking for a festival venue operations assistant manager, tasked with recruiting, training, and scheduling Front of House team members, as well as providing ongoing support to them.

VIFF is also hiring a volunteer and accessibility coordinator in advance of this year’s festival, in charge of all activities related to the Volunteer Department before, during and after the annual event.

“Our amazing community of VIFF volunteers will rely on the Volunteer Coordinator for leadership, support, guidance, and clear communication of scheduling and duties — ensuring an overall rewarding and well‐organized experience throughout the festival,” explained the job description.

All positions have a start date in July and have various pay rates depending on the position.

You must also be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act to apply.

Applicants must also have a valid Social Insurance Number, and they should be legally allowed to work in Canada as per provincial and territorial regulations.

More information about these positions and more, plus the application process, can be found online. The deadline is coming up in June, so don’t delay.

Hundreds of different kinds of jobs are available this month in Vancouver. So whether you have a background in food service or health care or are looking for your first job, we’ve put together a list of companies hiring that is bound to have a role that suits your specific skill set.
