This October, Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary near Cochrane is turning its 160-acre property into a giant game of Clue for Howl-oween, featuring wolfdogs, werewolf lore, and a mystery to solve after-hours. During the event, you’ll investigate clues around the sanctuary to figure out who stole what and exactly where it went.
The evening also includes a mini tour, Halloween-themed enrichment for the wolfdogs, and a talk about the history of werewolf myths.

What to expect at Howl-oween?
What is the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary?
Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is a non-profit sanctuary and educational facility on 160 acres near Cochrane. According to organizers, the sanctuary is home to more than 55 resident wolfdogs, many of which were neglected, abandoned, or otherwise displaced before arriving there.
The sanctuary was created in 2011 to raise awareness about wolfdogs and wolves in the wild while providing them with a safe, meaningful home.
Today, you can take guided tours through the sanctuary and get up close with some of the wolfdogs.
What is Howl-oween?
Howl-oween is a special evening event where you’ll investigate a mystery across the property and collect clues along the way. The game is based around three questions: who stole the missing item, what was taken and where it ended up. You can play on your own or form a team of up to six people, and you don’t need to know how to play CLUE beforehand.
The evening will start with a Mini Intro Tour where you’ll have a chance to explore the sanctuary before the mystery begins. The tour will also include Halloween-themed enrichment for the wolfdogs, including treats, toys, and activities made for the occasion.
There will also be a werewolf talk covering the history behind werewolf legends, including how wolves became connected to these stories.
Once the CLUE game wraps up, the evening will wind down with a bonfire and a cup of hot cocoa, followed by a send-off howl at 7 p.m.
When is the Howl-oween event happening?
The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. Here’s what the full schedule will look like when you arrive.

- 5 p.m.

- 5:30 p.m.
- Sanctuary-wide game of CLUE
- 6:15 p.m.
- Game ends, winners announced, bonfire and hot chocolate

Who can attend?
The event is open to youth ages 10 and older, as well as adults. You can participate on your own or with a group of up to six players.
How much are tickets?
Tickets cost $65 per person, and everyone attending must register, including people attending as part of the same CLUE team. You can purchase tickets on Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary’s official website.
Where is Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary?
Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is located just east of the Rocky Mountains, about 20 minutes from Cochrane and roughly 45 minutes northwest of Calgary by car. From Calgary, head west on Highway 1 toward Cochrane, then continue north to the sanctuary. Free parking is available on-site.
With a mystery to solve, wolfdogs to see, and a bonfire to close out the night, all that’s left is to see if you can crack the case.
