Toronto’s Cabbagetown BIA is hosting a five-week pop-up, lining up with the city’s FIFA World Cup theme of “The World in a City.”
It kicks off Thursday, June 11 and will run until Sunday, July 19. According to the Cabbagetown BIA, it was “designed for locals and tourists alike who are looking to immerse themselves in one of the city’s most historic and multicultural destinations.”
This pop-up experience takes place both indoors and outdoors, through several venues and public spaces in the neighbourhood. Think interactive workshops, walking and food tours, live music, outdoor markets, and more.
There’s a mix of free and ticketed events for you to choose from.
“Our new Around The World series shines a light on Cabbagetown’s vibrant community, spaces, and businesses. Toronto really is a world within a city, and Cabbagetown is a direct reflection of this. We have shops, attractions, architecture, and people that represent cultures from around the globe. It’s a beautiful and inclusive neighbourhood where everyone is welcome,” said Matthew Mohan, executive director of the Cabbagetown BIA.
“Day or night, there’s always something exciting happening in Cabbagetown – come check out what our neighbourhood has to offer!”

Bike Repair Workshop at Cycle Solutions
Get your bike tuned up by the St. James Town Community Corner. The hands-on bike repair workshop welcomes all to bring in bikes for lube patching, wheel alignment, brake adjustment, pedal adjustment, derailleur adjustment, and issues with shifting gears.

Outdoor Pop-Up Thrift Market at Double Take
Get your hands on wonderful gems from a mix of local vendors alongside Double Take’s curated collection of thrifted, vintage, and upcycled clothing and décor. There will also be live music, face painting, and a free clothing repair workshop. What sounds better than that?

Multicultural Dance Concert + Workshops at The School of Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre
According to organizers, this is your chance to “experience movement, culture, and community through Filipino Folk, Flamenco, and contemporary dance styles.”
Audience members are invited to join dance workshops led by performers and instructors following the performances.

Indoor Plant Care and Propagation at Dixon Hall
The Friends of Allan Gardens is hosting a free session on how to care for and propagate indoor houseplants, including indoor herbs, tropical plants and succulents. Activate that green thumb!

Coffee Ceremonies at Shalom Ethiopian & Eritrean Restaurant
Explore the rich traditions of East Africa at this authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony. “This centuries-old cultural ritual is a warm and immersive experience rooted in hospitality, community, and connection,” shares the BIA. This is your chance to learn about the cultural significance of coffee in Eritrean and Ethiopian traditions. You’ll get to enjoy lively conversations, storytelling, and freshly prepared coffee, of course.

Community Art Day at Stout Irish Pub
Bring your watercolours, paints, sketchbooks, and any artistic materials for an evening of creativity. Create works of art in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Conceptual artist Bonnie Devine, who is also the founding chair of OCAD University’s Indigenous Visual Culture Program, will host the event. According to the BIA, it is rooted in storytelling, artistic expression, and community connection.

Comedy Special/QE Trivia at Super Bargain Bar
Super Bargain, one of Cabbagetown’s favourite late-night cocktail bars, according to the BIA, is hosting a thrilling evening of laughs and pop culture. QE Trivia is set to bring its wildly entertaining comedy special to the bar.

Indigenous Drum Circle at Allan Gardens
Join the Spirit Wind Hand Drum Collective for an uplifting Indigenous Drumming Circle celebrating connection, community, and the power of song. Through traditional and social hand-drum songs shared with drum, voice, stories, and shakers, the ceremony brings together multi-talented Indigenous artists, singers, songwriters, and dancers to honour Native spirituality and cultural traditions.

Cabbagetown’s Circus Walk
And now for the grand finale of the Around the World Pop Ups! This thrilling celebration takes over the neighbourhood and transforms it into a living street performance. Expect juggling performances, mime interactions, live caricature drawings, a drag performance and more.
