Toronto’s Caribana festival takes over the city this week: Your ultimate 2026 guide, Canada Reviews

27 July 20264 Mins Read

Toronto’s annual Caribbean Carnival, a.k.a. Caribana, will once again take over the streets with Mas, steelpan and bedazzled costumes. This year, the biggest summer celebrations land over the August long weekend, with the massive Grand Parade taking place Saturday, Aug. 1. To help you squeeze in as many Carnival events and parties as possible over one weekend, here’s everything you need to know about Caribana 2026!

Thursday, July 30: King & Queen Showcase

Head to the King & Queen Showcase at Lamport Stadium (1151 King St. W.), where Toronto’s Mas bands bring out some of their most elaborate creations! Instead of the itty-bitty gems you’ll see masqueraders wearing during Saturday’s parade, competitors take the stage in enormous King and Queen costumes, showing off the artistry behind each design while competing for Carnival’s top titles. This ticketed event takes place from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. There are also a bunch of Caribana launch parties and boat cruises to check out around the city on Thursday night!

Friday, July 31: Toronto Panorama

Friday night belongs to steelpan, naturally. OSA Toronto Panorama – Keepin’ Pan Alive takes over Lamport Stadium on July 31, bringing some of Canada’s top steel orchestras together for the annual competition. Steelpan has deep roots in Trinidad and Tobago and is a huge part of Carnival culture, so this is a must for your Carnival-weekend bucket list. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the competition running from 7 p.m. until midnight.

Also on Friday: check out Carnival Village at Malvern Community Centre as well as after-hours dancehall parties.

Saturday, Aug. 1: The Grand Parade

Saturday’s Grand Parade is the place to be (and be seen) over the long weekend! It hits the waterfront on Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the grounds remaining open until 10 p.m. Expect thousands of masqueraders decked out in jewel-covered costumes, dancing through the streets to soca and calypso, with Mas bands making their way along the parade route. And don’t skip the food. Slurp fresh coconut water straight from the coconut, then dig into a rice combo with jerk chicken or oxtail, or grab a spicy patty.

The parade spans Marilyn Bell Park, Exhibition Place, Inukshuk Park and Lake Shore Boulevard West between Strachan Ave. and the Dowling Ave. bridge. And yes, you can watch the parade along Lakeshore Boulevard for free, but you’ll want to get there early for a good viewing spot!

As for getting there, transit is going to be your best friend. GO Transit’s 2026 Grand Parade travel information recommends taking the Lakeshore West line to Exhibition GO Station, which puts you right beside Exhibition Place. Or take the TTC: the 509 Harbourfront streetcar from Union Station and the 511 Bathurst streetcar from Bathurst Station both head to Exhibition Place. The 29/929 Dufferin bus also serves the Exhibition Place area.

After the parade, if you’re still up for celebrating, there are tons of after-parties taking place throughout the city (including this one hosted by Akon).

Sunday, Aug. 2: Pan in D Park

If you have energy after parade day, carnival heads east on Sunday.

OSA Pan in D Park takes over Neilson Park in Scarborough from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. The free, family-friendly outdoor celebration combines steel bands with DJs, calypso and soca performers, as well as a marketplace filled with food and artisan vendors.

And there are even more after-hours parties, like this Soca vs Reggae party if you want to keep Carnival weekend going into the wee hours of the morning.

Monday, Aug. 3: One last day to party

Caribana weekend keeps going right through the Civic Holiday. Check out High Heels & Soca at FLWR Event Space if you want to squeeze in one last fete before wrapping up the long weekend.
