U.S. Hotel Industry Sees Gains in Mid-July, Driven by World Cup Events

The U.S. hotel industry reported positive year-over-year results for the week ending July 18, 2026, according to CoStar data. Nationwide occupancy reached 72.4%, a 1.1% increase from the comparable week in 2025. Average daily rate (ADR) rose 5.2% to $174.49, and revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased 6.3% to $126.33.

Among the Top 25 Markets, New York City saw the largest increases in ADR and RevPAR. ADR climbed 41.5% to $425.03, and RevPAR rose 40.3% to $377.07. On Saturday, July 18—the night before the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina—New York reported a 105.1% lift in ADR and a 116.1% gain in RevPAR.

Washington, D.C., recorded the largest occupancy gain among major markets, up 7.0% to 78.3%.

Miami registered the second-highest jump in ADR, up 26.7% to $212.74, supported by continued World Cup tourism.

Dallas, which hosted a semifinal match between France and Spain, experienced the second-largest RevPAR increase, up 26.6% to $96.81, and the third-highest ADR gain, up 21.5% to $144.41.
