Vancouver is getting a free rooftop party and music festival under the sun

28 April 20263 Mins Read

It’s not often that Vancouver gets a rooftop anything (despite having the killer views for it), let alone a rooftop music festival. But that’s exactly what’s in store for the city on the very last day of spring, June 20, 2026. After hitting full capacity last year, the Railtown Rooftop Party is back for another round of outdoor art, live music, refreshing sips, and connection under the sun.

The best part? It’s completely free to attend!

Produced by Light Organ Records, the Strathcona Business Improvement Association, and the Railtown Coalition, the Railtown Rooftop Party is a must-visit if you want to start the summer on the best foot. It’s a celebration of local creativity, Vancouver’s top-notch food scene, and the people that make it all possible.

Open-air concerts

This year’s event will once again feature The Summerlight Stage, which will showcase indie, alternative, and genre-blending artists from Vancouver and across Canada. The lineup includes Juno-nominated, indie pop headliner Young Friend, alongside post-fusion group Chopping Spree, afrobeat artist King Cruff, and breakout indie darlings Dacey. So, needless to say, you can dance to a mix of genres and sounds that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

This year’s Railtown Rooftop Party takes place from 3 to 10 p.m. on June 20 at 611 Alexander St. The venue is an open-air, multi-level space, perfect for hosting a one-of-a-kind summer kickoff.

Rooftop partiers will find local food vendors, artisan vendors, craft beverages, and sponsorship activations curated to reflect the “playful spirit of Railtown,” in addition to live performances.

“Summerlight has always been about using music as a way to not only promote artists and have a great afternoon in the sun, but also create something that the Strathcona residential and business communities value and look forward to every year,” says Joseph Martin, general manager of Light Organ Records and Summerlight Festival Producer. “We are thrilled to be back in Railtown for 2026, and I am personally very excited to see this lineup.”

To build the anticipation for this year’s festivities, Light Organ Records is also releasing Live at Summerlight Vol. 2, a compilation of Railtown Rooftop Party 2025 performances by Vancouver acts Sleepy Gonzales and Pinebarren.

Free admission, registration required

Note that while admission is 100 per cent free, entry is subject to capacity, so make sure you reserve your spot online sooner rather than later to be a part of this iconic, all-ages community event.

Mark your calendars, Vancouver!

When: June 20, 2026
Time: 3 to 10 p.m.
Where: 611 Alexander St.
Cost: Free admission
