The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will convene a Leadership event in Egypt in early May, bringing together global Travel & Tourism leaders aboard Crystal Serenity during its transit through the Suez Canal.
The event is hosted by the Egyptian Government and sponsored by the Antonio Lefebvre Foundation, Coral Group, and Abercrombie & Kent. The three-day program will bring together Ministers, CEOs, and industry leaders to accelerate recovery in the Travel & Tourism sector through coordinated leadership by governments and industry stakeholders.
Attendees will include senior figures from the global Travel & Tourism sector, including Ministers and policymakers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Latin America, and Europe. The event is scheduled at a time of heightened geopolitical tension in the Middle East and will address the impact of current challenges on the sector. A strategic roundtable will focus on policies to accelerate recovery in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for coordinated action between the public and private sectors.
The program will feature high-level discussions on topics such as geopolitics and global travel, workforce and talent shortages, seamless cross-border travel, high-value tourism, and destination stewardship. These discussions are intended to address factors critical to the sector’s growth.
A session within the program will highlight Egypt’s tourism strategy and investment priorities, outlining the country’s approach to long-term sector development.
The WTTC event is described as the first major global platform dedicated to recovery in the Travel & Tourism sector, aiming to bring together governments and industry leaders to accelerate progress and identify opportunities. The event will take place aboard Crystal Serenity during its passage through the Suez Canal, with the stated objective of strengthening international cooperation and supporting the sector’s recovery through unified action.
