You can get the first Mortal Kombat movie for free, but you’ll have to use Bing

To celebrate Mortal Kombat 2’s arrival in theaters, Warner Bros. and Microsoft are giving its 2021 predecessor away for free. There’s just one downside: you’ll have to use Bing for seven days straight to earn it.

The 2021 Mortal Kombat film is at the center of the latest Microsoft Rewards promotion. People can complete a “punch card” of tasks related to searching for information about the Mortal Kombat franchise and get the movie for free. Below, you can see the full list of tasks you have to do in order to get a free digital copy of Mortal Kombat:

1. Watch the latest trailer for Mortal Kombat 2
2. Download a Mortal Kombat 2 Bing wallpaper
3. Visit the Xbox Store page for Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition
4. Check out showtimes for Mortal Kombat 2 on Fandango
5. Go to the Spotify page for Mortal Kombat 2’s soundtrack
6. Complete a search on Bing across seven separate days

The first five tasks are very easy to accomplish. Simply clicking on the links on the promotional Microsoft Rewards page will complete them in a matter of minutes. The Bing searches are the biggest time sink, as you have to wait 24 hours between searches for them to count.

Also, nobody likes Bing. I certainly hadn’t used Bing in years before starting this process to get Mortal Kombat for free. Thankfully, you still have quite a bit of time left on this promotion, as it will run until June 30.

If you can get over the annoyance of having to use a much-hated search engine, though, this is an easy way to obtain an entertaining action flick. I enjoy the new Mortal Kombat films because they embrace their campiness and don’t try to punch above their weight. They deliver the over-the-top action and entertaining fatalities I’d expect from a Mortal Kombat film adaptation, and that’s good enough for me.
