Z-A is finally getting Pokémon Home support, with some limitations

1 April 20262 Mins Read

Nearly six months after Pokémon Legends: Z-A was released, it’s finally set to receive a long-awaited feature. Pokémon Home will be updated with support for Pokémon Legends: Z-A this week, meaning you’ll be able to transfer Pokémon from past games into the latest adventure. However, there are some caveats and things to keep in mind before you start importing all your favorite Pokémon into Lumiose City.

Of course, only Pokémon already in Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s Pokédex can be transferred into the game. Like with previous Nintendo Switch games, Pokémon cannot be transferred backwards from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Your Totodile from Legends: Z-A can go to Pokémon Home, but it can’t go from Home to Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, for example.

Similarly, any Pokémon sent to Legends: Z-A from a previous game can’t go back to their original game. For example, if you move your Galarian Slowpoke from Pokémon Sword or Shield to Home and then to Legends: Z-A, you’ll no longer be able to transfer it backwards to Sword or Shield.

Pokémon Home will undergo maintenance starting Wednesday, April 1, at 8 p.m. EST to add functionality with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and it should end around 12 hours later. Once it’s done, though, you can get transferring away — just keep in mind those transfers only go one way.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A was released last October. I enjoyed my time with it, but felt that even with its alterations to the classic Pokémon formula, like its real-time battles, “Pokémon Legends: Z-A is as familiar as any other Pokémon title.” It received an expansion in December 2025, but even the New Mega Evolution battles aren’t enough to make Mega Dimension feel like a valuable addition, as too much of the DLC’s experience is padded out by grinding for the sake of grinding.
