Warhorse Studios, the team behind the acclaimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, has revealed two new projects in the works.
Firstly, and somewhat unsurprisingly, a “new Kingdom Come adventure” is on the way. Is it Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3? Until we know more, that’s the safe assumption, but it could be a spin-off that strays from the game’s RPG roots because the announcement doesn’t specify anything beyond that.
Secondly, and perhaps even more excitingly for anyone who hasn’t played a Kingdom Come game before, is the news that Warhorse Studios is also working on an “open-world Middle-earth RPG.”
This was rumored in late March, after a translator explained to Tolkien Polska, a Polish-language podcast dedicated to everything Tolkien, that they’d heard whispers of the game’s existence. In October last year, Insider Gaming revealed that a new Lord of the Rings game was in development, but details around the developer were scarce.

However, that article claimed the game would be a third-person action game “designed in a way to compete with Hogwarts Legacy.” It’s also allegedly being partially funded by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office with approximately $100 million.
The prospect of a modern open-world RPG set in Tolkien’s Middle-earth is exciting to say the least, especially for the legions of Lord of the Rings fans around the globe. Warhorse Studios has said it’s excited to share more “when the time is right,” so it’s highly unlikely we’ll see either of these games in 2026. Here’s hoping a trailer or two comes out before the year is out.
