10 of the best things to do in and around Calgary this weekend (Aug. 21 to 23)

Summer is starting to wind down, which means there are only so many weekends left to squeeze in all the plans you kept putting off. Luckily, Calgary has plenty happening over the next few days, so there’s still time to make the most of the season before it’s officially over. Whether you want to spend some time outdoors, check out an event you haven’t been to before, or just find something fun to fill your time, we’ve put together 10 of the best things to do around the city this weekend.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into it!

Golf fans can catch the action this weekend as the Rogers Charity Classic opens its public viewing areas at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club. The 78 PGA Tour Champions players have been competing throughout the week, and this weekend is your chance to watch it all unfold in person.

There will also be a Blue Jays-themed experience on the 16th hole, with live music, ballpark-style vendors, and appearances from Blue Jays alumni.

When: Friday, Aug. 21, to Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club – 12501 14th St. SW, Calgary, Alta,
Cost: Starting at $39.29

Spend an evening at the Calgary Zoo and enjoy an adults-only dinner that puts a focus on some of Alberta’s most endangered birds. You’ll sit down for a multi-course dinner at Safari Lodge while learning about the conservation work helping protect burrowing owls and whooping cranes across the province.

When: Friday, Aug. 21, 2026
Time: 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Calgary Zoo – 210 St. George’s Dr. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $130 plus GST

Grab a blanket and head to the BMO Amphitheatre this Saturday for a free outdoor screening of Barbie. The movie will be paired with entertainment from Biggies Roller Rink, and the first 200 guests can also pick up a free bag of popcorn from Maisie Eatery. There’s also free entry to the SAM Centre from 4 to 5 p.m., before the movie gets started.

When: Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026
Time: 4 to 5 p.m.: Pre-movie entertainment; 5:30 p.m.: Movie start time.

Channel your inner kids for an evening of classic camp games, outdoor activities and snacks at the Lougheed House. Recess Calgary is closing out its fourth annual adult summer camp series with one last night of summer fun, giving grown-ups a chance to switch up their usual evening plans and get a little competitive.

Time: 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Lougheed House – 707 13th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.

Head over to Eau Claire Plaza this Saturday for a free celebration of Muslim culture, heritage and community. The festival will feature cultural exhibits, traditional performances, art workshops, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Eau Claire Plaza – 101 Barclay Parade SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Calgary’s first combined concrete pump track and skatepark is hosting its grand opening this weekend, and you’re invited. Head over to George Moss Park in Ogden and enjoy a day of skating, biking and activities, including beginner lessons, an adapted bike session, giveaways, and a free kids bike trade-up.

When: Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: George Moss Park – 7224 22nd St. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

If you’re into comics, collectibles, video games, or all things pop culture, the YYCFanFair is a good event to have on your radar this weekend. This one-day event will bring together local artists and vendors, selling everything from toys to trading cards, video games, and other collectibles.

When: Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026
Time: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association and Recreation Centre – 5600 Centre St. N., Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free

Head to The Dandy Brewing and Tasting Room this Saturday for DandyFest, a one-day festival centred around live music, beer, food and art. The lineup includes more than 10 bands playing across two stages, along with over 10 breweries and plenty of food to check out.

Time: Noon to 10 p.m.

Are you in need of a girls’ night out? RanchGIRLS is bringing a little extra western flair to Ranchmans this Saturday. The event will feature country music, line dancing lessons and live entertainment from Girl Crush, plus a RanchGIRLS signature drink is included with your ticket. You can also dress up in your best Western look for a chance to win Best Dressed Prizes.
