Back to Muskoka: Massive hit teen drama ‘Sterling Point’ renewed for season 2, Canada Reviews

20 August 20263 Mins Read

The runaway hit show of the summer is Prime Video’s Sterling Point. A show near-and-dear to the hearts of many a Torontonian, both because of the scenes shot in the city and the scenes shot in our official cottage country paradise of Muskoka.

Prime Video has renewed the Canadian-set drama for a second season, just weeks after the eight-episode first season premiered on Aug. 5. The show has quickly become one of the streaming service’s most popular series.

For Toronto viewers, much of the appeal is obvious. Sterling Point is steeped in the Muskoka summer experience — the lake, the islands, the cottages, the rich kids, the nostalgia and that familiar feeling of getting away from the city for a few weeks. The series was filmed in Muskoka, giving viewers a particularly recognizable version of the cottage country that so many local residents know and love.

The series follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, a New York City teenager whose life changes when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada. She arrives to discover a new group of friends, romantic complications and long-buried family secrets.

The show stars Ella Rubin as Annie, along with Ontario’s Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Amélie Hoeferle, Daniel Quinn Toye, Bo Bragason and others.

Season 1 ended with plenty of questions still hanging over the characters. Annie and her long-lost sister Ramona had uncovered major family secrets, while Annie found herself caught in a love triangle involving Ellis and Rory. And if you haven’t picked a team yet, you are doing it wrong. Ramona and Oona also explored a romance of their own.

Creator and co-showrunner, and fellow Ontario resident and Muskoka lover, Megan Park said the response to the series has been thrilling and that the production team is eager to explore the characters further.

“It’s been an absolute joy to see the appreciation and love for the show,” said series creator, co-showrunner and executive producer Megan Park, in a Variety article. “We worked so hard to make the show as authentic as possible and to see audiences respond to that has been thrilling. We cannot wait to dive deeper into these characters and deliver the best second season ever!”

Even better news for fans of the scenery: the show’s producers have confirmed they will be returning to Muskoka for Season 2.

There is no word yet on exactly when Season 2 will arrive, but we are hoping for a summer rewind in 2027.
