The hit Spanish thriller Gangs of Galicia (known locally as Clanes) took the world by storm with its debut season, becoming a global sleeper hit. After its season 2 renewal announcement back in February 2025 and production beginning soon after, the show is now back for its highly anticipated second season in April 2026. Here’s everything we know so far about Season 2.
Produced by Vaca Films—the team behind Netflix hits like The Mess You Leave Behind and Sky High—the first season of Gangs of Galicia was a massive success story. Following its premiere, it quickly became the most-watched non-English series on Netflix globally during its debut week. It reached the number one spot in 28 countries and ranked in the Top 10 in 82, and perhaps most importantly, spent 84 days in the Spanish top 10s. According to the Netflix Engagement Reports, the series has so far been watched for 115.8M hours globally, equating to 21.7M views.
In addition to Gangs of Galicia Season 2, Vaca Films is currently shooting another major project for Netflix titled Lobo. Starring Luis Tosar and Tristán Ulloa, the upcoming series focuses on the story of Spain’s first documented serial killer.
Now, the story of Ana and Daniel continues. Netflix has confirmed that Gangs of Galicia Season 2 will premiere globally on April 3, 2026.
What is the plot of Gangs of Galicia Season 2?
The new season features a significant time jump and raises the stakes for the star-crossed lovers.
The official synopsis for Season 2 reads:
“It has been three years and many things have changed. Despite their efforts to leave the past behind, Ana and Daniel find themselves pulled back into the world of drug trafficking—but this time, they are on opposite sides.
While Daniel agrees to go out to sea one last time to help his father, Ana is forced to return to Cambados to work with the enemy clan opposing the Padíns. Ana accepts the task, even though she is fully aware that this could mean the end of the Padíns and, most likely, the end of her relationship with Daniel.”
The scripts for the new season are once again penned by Jorge Guerricaechevarría, with Marc Vigil and Javier Rodríguez serving as directors.

Fans will be pleased to see the return of the show’s leads. Clara Lago (Spanish Affair, The Neighbor) returns as Ana, alongside Tamar Novas (The Mess You Leave Behind) as Daniel.
However, the biggest casting news for Season 2 is the addition of Goya Award-winner Luis Zahera. Known for his intense performances in The Beasts (As bestas) and Animal, Zahera is a heavyweight in the Spanish thriller genre and joins the cast for these new episodes.
