Ready for a weekend full of adventure, Edmonton? We sure are.

With hot air balloon festivals and carnivals galore, there are loads of things to do in and around the Edmonton area this weekend. No matter what it is you’re looking to do, you’ll definitely find something here.

The Muttart Conservatory is well-known in Edmonton for being a tropical paradise indoors during the winter months. Year-round, it holds majestic botanical gardens for everyone to see.

There’s no question that Edmonton has some of the best escape rooms around. We’ve rounded up the best of them in a list for you to check out as a family, and maybe, just maybe, you might be able to escape.

Over in Medicine Hat, there’s a fantastical festival thrown every year centred around, you guessed it, hot air balloons. This weekend, according to Tourism Medicine Hat, up to 35 hot air balloons will take flight above the city for a magical view and an even more magical experience.

Time: 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. flights

Here, you can hop aboard one of the many rides this Wild Rose carnival has, compete in carnival games, and even get a snack that never tastes better than at the fair.

Where: Londonderry Mall Winners — 6806 137th Ave., Edmonton, Alta.

Fort Edmonton Park is one of Edmonton’s most historic places. The Fort acts as its own time travel portal into the late 1800s. Throughout the winter and fall, it runs a couple of programs, but in the summer, the park truly comes to life. If you’re looking to get the full experience of the park, this is definitely the time to be going.

When: Now until Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026

This year-round market is home to over 120 different vendors, and more than 80 per cent of those vendors are local, who make, bake, and grow their own products. It offers so much more than you could ever imagine, so you’ll just have to check it out yourself.

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday

This market in Old Strathcona has been around for ages, and it’s Edmonton’s most premier farmers market. Being the original year-rounder, this place offers the best locally grown and made goods as well as trinkets you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 10310 83rd Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Queen Mary’s Market is located in the heart of Edmonton and offers over 130 vendors, as well as five individual restaurants within the building. This market takes on strong local vendors with a selection of antiques, rare collectibles, local produce, artisanal goods, and services.

When: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays
Where: 12011 111th Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Whether you’re a Lego enthusiast or a casual builder, this convention will have you dive headfirst into anything and everything brick and block. Taking over the Alberta Aviation Museum on May 23 and 24, this convention will be complete with unique displays, Lego vendors, and opportunities to build yourself.

When: Saturday, May 24, 2026, and Sunday, May 25, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday
