Peachtree Group has begun construction on a 480-room dual-branded Embassy Suites by Hilton and Tempo by Hilton development at Fifth and Lavaca streets in downtown Austin, with an opening expected in early 2029.

Peachtree Group and Merritt Development Group are co-developing the 30-story project. DPR Construction is the general contractor, and DLR Group is serving as architect and interior designer.

The development will combine Embassy Suites’ full-service, all-suite offering with Tempo by Hilton. The hotels will share amenities and operating infrastructure.

Planned amenities include an approximately two-story signature lifestyle restaurant, a rooftop bar and lounge, an Embassy Suites restaurant and bar, a Tempo café, meeting and event space, and a fitness center.

The site is surrounded by approximately 14 million square feet of Class A office space and is near the Texas State Capitol, the University of Texas at Austin, Sixth Street and the Red River Cultural District.

The five-county Austin region has about 2.6 million residents. Opportunity Austin projects the region’s population will reach 3.23 million by 2035.

The project is near the Austin Convention Center, which is undergoing a $1.6 billion redevelopment and expansion. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is undergoing a multibillion-dollar expansion expected to increase passenger and gate capacity.
