In Brief: Accor and Corinthia Group have signed an agreement for five Verdi Hotels in Malta, Portugal and Tunisia to join the Handwritten Collection under franchise agreements from November 2026.
Accor and Corinthia Group, trading as IHI plc, have signed an agreement to bring Verdi Hotels into the Handwritten Collection. The parties plan to add two further properties in Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The initial properties are Verdi Gżira Promenade, Verdi St. George’s Bay Marina and Verdi Dragonara in Malta; Verdi Tunis Beach Resort in Tunisia; and Verdi Santarém in Portugal.
Verdi Gżira Promenade is located on Malta’s Marsamxett Harbour waterfront, along the Gżira seafront promenade and shopping district. Verdi St. George’s Bay Marina is on St. George’s Bay in St. Julian’s and has direct access to the Mediterranean coastline.
Verdi Dragonara, formerly the Vivaldi Hotel, is located on the Dragonara headland near St. Julian’s. Verdi Tunis Beach Resort is on the Côtes de Carthage along the Mediterranean coastline near the Tunisian capital. Verdi Santarém is in the city of Santarém, north of Lisbon, in Portugal’s Ribatejo region.
Verdi Hotels was launched by IHI plc in 2024 as a management platform in the upscale segment and operates independently from the Corinthia brand. The agreement applies only to Verdi Hotels and does not involve Corinthia-branded hotels.
Under the collaboration, Verdi’s management platform will have access to Accor’s distribution, marketing and loyalty programs. Handwritten Collection was launched in 2023 and has more than 50 hotels in 22 countries, with a pipeline of 58 hotels worldwide. Verdi Hotels operates seven properties across Europe and North Africa.
