Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) and PT Citra Buana Prakarsa today announced the signing of a management agreement for Hyatt Regency Kapal Besar Island Resort. The planned resort will mark the debut of the Hyatt Regency brand in the Riau Islands and support Hyatt’s continued growth in Indonesia.

Located on private Pulau Kapal Besar near Batam, the resort will offer a secluded island setting within easy reach of Singapore and key Indonesian cities. Access will be via Nirup Island, home to the nearest immigration checkpoint, followed by a short ferry transfer to Pulau Kapal Besar. The total journey from HarbourFront, Singapore, is expected to take approximately 50 minutes.

Set amid the natural beauty of Pulau Kapal Besar, the resort will embrace the island’s tranquil lake, mangroves and coastal surroundings, offering guests opportunities to relax, explore and connect with nature. The resort is planned to include 140 thoughtfully designed rooms and suites, alongside a spa, fitness center, outdoor pools and Camp Hyatt kids’ club with indoor and outdoor facilities and an entertainment center. With its secluded island setting and range of amenities, the resort is envisioned as a destination for a wide range of travelers, whether seeking a relaxing getaway, a family vacation or a setting for weddings, celebrations and group gatherings.

“We are proud to welcome Hyatt to Pulau Kapal Besar as we embark on this new alliance,” said Tommy Ho, Director of Business Development of PT Citra Buana Prakarsa. “The Hyatt Regency brand’s global reputation for thoughtful hospitality is a natural fit for our vision of creating world-class island destinations just a short journey from Singapore. Together, we look forward to hosting travelers from around the world while creating lasting opportunities for our local community.”

“We are excited to collaborate with PT Citra Buana Prakarsa to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to Pulau Kapal Besar,” said Bastien Touzeau, Regional Vice President – Growth, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, Hyatt. “Kapal Besar’s natural setting and convenient access from Singapore make it an exciting addition to the region’s leisure offering. We look forward to welcoming travelers from Indonesia and around the world with the thoughtful hospitality and attentive service that define the Hyatt Regency experience.”

The resort is anticipated to open in 2031 and will form part of PT Citra Buana Prakarsa’s broader vision for a cluster of island destinations. Alongside its existing resorts on Nirup Island, the company plans to develop neighboring Pulau Layang and Pulau Kapal Kecil.
