For fans of what might now have earned the title of Canada’s most popular TV series in history — yes, we’re talking Heated Rivalry — the wait for a new season of Shane and Ilya probably feels endless. And while there have been dance parties and TIFF appearances to tide you over, there’s nothing like the real thing. A new announcement is offering a new way to experience the Hollanov magic all over again: Cineplex will be bringing the series to the big screen next month.
Savvy fans spread the news earlier this week when they saw Cineplex had scheduled screenings for each episode of Heated Rivalry across one date in November, as well as one date for a full Heated Rivalry marathon (yup, all six episodes in one shot for the full superfan experience). Once screenshots started circulating, fans of the hit Crave show did what they’re known to do: they flooded the website with so much demand that it literally crashed. Navigating to the links of the scheduled screenings for the marathon and episodes on the Cineplex website now return a “404: Not Found” or a “500: Internal Server Error” message.

Streets of Toronto has reached out to Cineplex for comment on the screenings and on the website crash, but the company did not respond in time for publication.
The landing pages for the screenings were just sharing information about ticket options, so don’t worry, you haven’t missed out on your chance to snag tickets just yet. Three event options are available on Nov. 6: episodes one and two paired together, episodes three and four, or episodes five and six. On Nov. 8, the full Heated Rivalry marathon will run, featuring intermissions throughout the program so you can refuel after all the crying.
If you’re a CineClub member, monthly member tickets and everyday member-priced tickets will not be available for this event. Though information on which theatres will be hosting the screenings, Cineplex has promised the event will be happening in theatres “across Canada,” so it’s likely one near you will be hosting the marathon.
