All of the live theatre shows you can catch on Calgary stages this September

Calgary’s theatre scene is getting busy this September, with plenty of big productions, local shows, and familiar stories hitting stages around the city. From Juliet getting a chance to rewrite her ending to a strange plant causing trouble at a flower shop, there’s a wide range of options to choose from.

To make planning your next theatre night a little easier, we’ve rounded up 10 shows happening around Calgary this September.

Let’s take a look.

Two cops try to catch an embezzling mayor, but their carefully planned operation doesn’t go so smoothly. Things start to unravel as they try to keep the sting operation on track, all while dealing with three crooks and a motel room with eight doors.

When: Running from Tuesday through Sunday until Nov. 8, 2026
Time: Wednesday to Saturday: Showtimes at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday: 5:15 p.m.
Where: 1002 37th St. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $80.95 plus taxes and fees

In the mood for dinner and a show? You can get both at Jubilations, where Rock Around the Clock with Elvis and Friends is taking audiences back to the early days of rock ‘n’ roll. The show will follow Elvis, Buddy Holly, and other familiar names from the genre, with live, interactive performances throughout the evening.

When: Running Wednesday through Sunday until Oct. 17, 2026
Time: Wednesday to Saturday: Showtimes at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday: 5:15 p.m.
Where: 1002 37th St. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday: Adults (13+): $87.95, Child (12 and under): $53.95, Senior Special: $66.25, Student Special: $66.25; Friday and Saturday: Adults (13+): $93.95, Child (12 and under): $53.95

First Métis Man of Odesa tells the story of Matthew MacKenzie, a Métis theatre artist from Canada, and Mariya Khomutova, a Ukrainian actor whom he met while working on a show in Ukraine. Their relationship continued through the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which brings a whole new set of challenges to their lives.

When: Running from Tuesday to Sunday, until Sept. 27, 2026
Time: Showtimes at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Where: Theatre Calgary – 220 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Ranging from $30 to $99

Loose Moose Theatre is bringing Hansel and Gretel to the stage this month, with its own spin on the classic fairy tale. The story follows the siblings as they find themselves lost in the woods and come across a house made of sweets. The show is geared towards kids ages 4 to 10, with performances running on weekends only.

When: Running on Saturdays and Sundays until Oct. 4, 2026
Time: Saturday: 1 p.m., Sunday: 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Where: Loose Moose Theatre Company – 1235 26th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $18.89 per person

Based on the film 8½, Nine takes audiences into the mind of Guido Contini, an Italian filmmaker struggling to get his next project off the ground. The musical explores his relationships, memories, and creative process as he tries to make sense of where his life and career are headed.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 15 to Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026
Time: Tuesday to Friday: 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday: Showtimes at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Where: Pumphouse Theatre – 2140 Pumphouse Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Ranging from $27 to $30

What if Juliet didn’t end her story with Romeo? & Juliet picks up after the famous ending and reimagines what could have happened if she had decided to start over instead. The musical follows Juliet as she sets off on a new adventure with her friends, all set to a soundtrack packed with Max Martin’s biggest pop hits.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 15 to Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026
Time: Tuesday to Friday: 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday: Showtimes at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Where: Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium – 1415 14th Ave. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $94.15

Alberta Ballet is kicking off its 60th anniversary season with Giselle, a story centred around love, betrayal, and the supernatural. Giselle falls for Albrecht, who has been hiding his identity from her, and his secret eventually comes to light — with tragic consequences.

When: Thursday, Sept. 24 to Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026
Time: Sept. 24 and 25: 7:30 p.m., Sept. 26: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Where: Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium – 1415 14th Ave. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $73

A mysterious lodger probably isn’t the person you want moving into your house, especially when multiple murders are happening nearby. The Lodger follows a group of residents who start to wonder if their new tenant has something to do with the killings.

When: Saturday, Sept. 26, to Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026
Time: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: Showtime at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday: Showtimes at 2 p.n. and 7:30 p.m.
Where: Vertigo Theatre – 121 115 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: From $33.05 to $69.05

Four women meet by chance at a department store sale and quickly realize they have a lot more in common than they thought. Through reworked hits from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, the musical pokes fun at hot flashes, mood swings, forgetfulness, and everything else that comes with “The Change.”

When: Monday, Sept. 28, 2026
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Jack Singer Concert Hall – 225 8th Ave, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $90.65

Seymour thinks he’s finally caught a break until he discovers a strange plant that starts drawing customers to the flower shop. The only problem is that the plant has a very unusual appetite. As it grows, Seymour does whatever it takes to keep the plant happy, but keeping its secret gets harder and harder.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026
Time: Showtimes at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Where: Theatre Calgary – 220 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
