Black Friday doesn’t have to be stressful with these simple shopping tips

30 October 20263 Mins Read

Black Friday is synonymous with savings, and as the unofficial holiday approaches, Canadians everywhere are anticipating major deals from some of their favourite brands.

From scouring online sales to braving the malls, there are more ways than ever to save money leading up to Black Friday, but it also means there are more ways to stress. We’re breaking down three tips to help keep shopping season stress-free while still enjoying great deals.

Make a wishlist and budget

You’re only saving money if it’s on something you were going to buy anyway. To avoid impulse purchases, make a list of everything you’re hoping to buy on Black Friday to help prevent distractions and give you a clear idea of what your budget looks like.

Consider gifts for others, everyday essentials, and sure, maybe even a treat or two for yourself. Ask yourself: How much am I willing to spend? By going into things with a clear head and hard boundaries, you can avoid falling into the pitfalls of a sparkly deal on something you don’t actually want or need.

Research deals

You’ve made a list and checked it twice. Now it’s time to see if the deals you’re expecting will actually come to fruition. Many stores announce what sort of sales they’ll be offering in advance, so you can get a rough idea of what you’ll be spending on that big-ticket item.

If you can’t find this information, a lot of places are pretty consistent with their Black Friday promotions. If a store has done 20 per cent off for the last several Black Fridays, it’s safe to assume they’ll do it again. Or if a luxury brand is notorious for never having deals, you can cut your losses now and avoid disappointment or time wasted on something that remains outside of your budget.

Let the deals come to you

The easiest way to enjoy a deal is to do nothing at all. If you’re a Fizz member, the Black Friday surprises begin on Nov. 4, and you don’t have to do anything to access them. Similar to last year, deals, discounts, and gifts will be revealed throughout November and December. Think discounts on phones, plans at attractive prices, free GB of data, and more. In fact, the first gift to drop is 40 free GB of data on Nov. 4, directly deposited into the accounts of active Fizz members to be used whenever they want.

To get Black Friday deals for your phone, all you have to do is sign up online to be a Fizz member before the perks drop. Simply put, the sooner you sign up, the more you’ll benefit. And if you’re already a member, all you have to do is wait for the deals to slide right into your account. Easy-peasy.

Take the stress out of Black Friday shopping by planning ahead, sticking to a budget, and letting the best deals come to you. Subscribe to Fizz before Nov. 4 to reap all of the Black Friday offers to come.
