School is almost out for the students of Hartley High. The Australian YA sensation Heartbreak High is returning for its third and final season, and we finally have a release date. Here is your full preview of Heartbreak High season 3, coming to Netflix in March 2026.

Since its reboot in 2022, Heartbreak High has been a massive hit for Netflix, praised for its gritty, neon-soaked aesthetic and honest portrayal of Gen-Z life. Produced by Fremantle Australia and NewBe, the series has garnered international acclaim, including an International Emmy Award.

Now, the final bell is about to ring. As a reminder, Netflix officially renewed the series for a third season in May 2024. At the time of the renewal, Carly Heaton, Fremantle Head of Scripted, said, “We are beyond excited to all come together again as we love existing in the craziness of Hartley High. We aimed to create a show where Aussie young people are seen and heard and we are completely overwhelmed by the worldwide reaction to the stories of these characters. All of us who work on the series are grateful to have the opportunity to see what kind of mess evolves in season three.”

Here’s everything we know about the final semester at Hartley High.

When will Heartbreak High Season 3 be on Netflix?

Netflix has officially confirmed a March 25, 2026, release date for the final season. A 2026 release window was first confirmed by Variety earlier this year, previewing a couple of titles, and now has a full release date courtesy of What Next? (Next on Netflix).

Along with the date announcement, Netflix is trying something new for the first look. The official trailer is set to debut live on TikTok at 4:30 PM AEDT. This aligns perfectly with the show’s distinctively online, social-media-savvy aesthetic.

What is the plot of Season 3?

The stakes have been raised significantly for the final season. While previous seasons dealt with map-bitch scandals and burning classrooms, season 3 pushes the group into adulthood.

Here is the official logline for the new season:

“For Hartley High’s graduating class, it’s goodbye school, hello adulthood! Yet when a revenge prank goes horribly wrong, Amerie and her friends must cover up their secret or risk losing everything.”

Who is in the cast for Heartbreak High Season 3?

Fans will be relieved to see the core ensemble returning to see out the final episodes. The confirmed key cast for season 3 includes:

  • Ayesha Madon as Amerie Wadia
  • James Majoos as Darren Rivers
  • Chloé Hayden as Quinni Gallardo-Jones
  • Asher Yasbincek as Harper McLean
  • Thomas Weatherall as Malakai Mitchell
  • Will McDonald as Ca$h
  • Gemma Chua-Tran as Sasha So
  • Bryn Chapman Parish as Spider
  • Sherry-Lee Watson as Missy
  • Brodie Townsend as Ant
  • Rachel House as Principal Woodsy
  • Chika Ikogwe as Jojo

Rounding out the cast are Kartanya Maynard, Aki Munroe, Ioane Sa’ula, Ben Turland, and William McKenna.

Behind The Scenes & Production Updates

The series was once again filmed in Sydney, NSW, and remains one of the most successful shows Netflix has ever produced in the region.

The creative team seeing out the final season includes creator Hannah Carroll Chapman, who also serves as a writer alongside Megan Palinkas, Keir Wilkins, Hannah Samuel, Jessica Paine, Thomas Wilson-White, Sarah Emery, and—interestingly—star Thomas Weatherall (Malakai), who has joined the writing room for this season.
Directing duties for the final season are split between Jessie Oldfield & Adam Murfet (Episodes 1-2 & 7-8), Tig Terera (Episodes 3-4), and Nina Buxton (Episodes 5-6).

Carly Heaton serves as Executive Producer, with Sarah Freeman producing and Anna Curtis as Co-Producer.

Is this definitely the final season?

Yes. When the renewal was announced, it was confirmed that season 3 would be the final chapter for this generation of Hartley High students. Given the “goodbye school, hello adulthood” logline, it seems the show is aiming to wrap up their stories naturally as they graduate.
