From a new sci-fi chiller produced by the Duffer Brothers to the highly anticipated debut of Lord of the Flies, Netflix has a powerhouse slate of must-watch series arriving in May 2026.

As we look ahead to May, the streamer is leaning into prestige adaptations and high-octane dramas from some of the industry’s most successful creators. We’re seeing new projects from the minds behind Stranger Things, Power, and Adolescence, alongside the return of fan-favorite hits. Which upcoming series belong on your watchlist? Here is our curated rundown of the biggest highlights for May 2026.

(You can also check out our extensive first look at everything coming to Netflix in May 2026 here.)

Lord of the Flies

Netflix Release Date: May 4 (US Only)

William Golding’s definitive tale of survival and the fragility of civilization finally arrives on Netflix US. Developed by Jack Thorne (Netflix’s Adolescence, Enola Holmes) and produced by the team behind Sex Education, this four-episode limited series tracks a group of schoolboys stranded on a remote island. What begins as a quest for order quickly descends into a brutal struggle for power. The series is directed by Marc Munden and features an incredible score by legendary composer Hans Zimmer.

Look out for a standout performance by David McKenna as Piggy. Netflix sleuths should pay close attention to him, as McKenna is already set to star as Digory in Netflix’s massive upcoming The Chronicles of Narnia reboot from Greta Gerwig later this year.

Legends

Netflix Release Date: May 7

Inspired by a remarkable, previously unknown true story from the 1990s, this gripping six-part British crime drama follows a team of customs officers thrust into the world of deep-cover espionage. Untrained but determined, they must forge new identities (their “legends”) in the criminal underworld to infiltrate Britain’s most dangerous drug gangs and dismantle an empire from the inside. Created by Neil Forsyth (The Gold), the series stars acting royalty Steve Coogan alongside Tom Burke and Tom Hughes.

Devil May Cry (Season 2)

Netflix Release Date: May 12

Following a massive debut that garnered over 5.3 million views in its first week, the animated adaptation of the iconic Capcom franchise returns. Season 2 finds professional demon hunter Dante (voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch) facing his most personal threat yet: his estranged older twin brother, Vergil, who has embraced his demonic heritage to lead an invading force into the human world. Expect the same breathtaking action and lavish animation that earned Season 1 a near-perfect 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nemesis

Netflix Release Date: May 14

Courtney A. Kemp, the acclaimed creator behind the massive Power universe, returns to the crime thriller genre with Nemesis. This eight-episode psychological drama subverts the heist genre to explore what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. The series stars Y’lan Noel as Coltrane Wilder, an elite criminal whose ambitions put him on a collision course with Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law), a brilliant and unyielding police detective. It’s an explosive, high-stakes rivalry where both men’s morals will be tested to their absolute limits.

The Wonderfools

Netflix Release Date: May 15

Continuing Netflix’s streak of top-tier Korean content, The Wonderfools is a subversive superhero comedy set in 1999. A group of ordinary citizens suddenly gains extraordinary powers—like telekinesis and teleportation—but they lack the maturity to handle them. As doomsday panic grips the turn of the century, they must learn to work together to stop a rising evil.

The Boroughs

Netflix Release Date: May 21

Executive produced by the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things), this eight-episode sci-fi horror series proves that danger doesn’t just lurk in Hawkins. Set in a picturesque retirement community, a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing their time. The veteran cast includes Geena Davis, Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, and Bill Pullman.

Mating Season

Netflix Release Date: May 22

The creators of Big Mouth bring their signature twisted humor to the animal kingdom. Mating Season is an off-the-wall animated comedy exploring love and relationships through the eyes of bears, foxes, and raccoons. The voice cast is led by Nick Kroll, June Diane Raphael, and Zach Woods.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (Season 2)

Emma Myers (Wednesday) returns as the relentless Pip Fitz-Amobi. Based on Holly Jackson’s sequel novel Good Girl, Bad Blood, Season 2 sees Pip dealing with the fallout of her first investigation while launching a desperate search for a missing friend. After the first season dominated the global Top 10, Jackson promises this next chapter will be “bigger and badder.”
