It may not officially be summer until June 21, but here in Toronto, the weather gets hot way before that — and only foolproof way to cool off is by the water. Luckily, the City of Toronto got that memo, because 15 public pools are getting an early opening date this year to beat the heat.
The City announced in a release that on Saturday, June 13, there will be an early opening of 15 outdoor pools and wading pools, operating on evening and weekend schedules (4 to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday).
The following Saturday, June 20, the remaining 49 outdoor pools will open on an evening and weekend partial schedule — which is 4–8 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays
And by Friday, June 26, all pools and wading pools will be fully open for regular hours, which is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
All pools will close as of Sept. 6 — with the exception of those select 15 outdoor pools opening early, which will stay open for one more day of fun on Sept. 7 until 4 p.m.
If you can’t wait until then for some waterside fun, Torontonians can head one of the over 140 splash pads and spray pads currently open across the city. There is also lifeguard supervision at 10 beaches from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
