Here’s why Blue Jays fan fave Alejandro Kirk has been popping up in Ontario beer aisles lately, Canada Reviews

19 August 20262 Mins Read

If you’ve been to an LCBO or Longo’s in recent weeks, you may have spotted a familiar Blue Jays face (and No. 30) staring back at you from the beer aisle, and as it turns out, there’s a Toronto connection behind it all. Alejandro Kirk is the face of Banditos Mexican Lager, a Mexican-inspired beer that, despite the name, was founded right here in Toronto.

The partnership itself dates back to May, when Banditos announced the catcher as its first global brand ambassador and a shareholder in the company. But in recent weeks, Kirk’s profile and jersey number have been splashed across the brand’s campaigns, activations and other initiatives (Banditos has even rolled out limited-edition “Kirk 30” cans sporting his jersey number!)

“Alejandro represents a lot of what Banditos stands for,” brand founder Anthony CK Thomas said in a statement when the collab was announced. “He earned everything that came his way. Nothing was handed to him, and that mentality matters to us. We are building a brand that wants to compete, grow and earn the right to blaze its own trail in the market. This goes beyond a traditional partnership. He is someone we want building this with us, side by side,” Thomas added.

As for Kirk, he said the partnership “felt natural to me right away.”

“Being from Mexico and now playing baseball in Canada, it is exciting to be part of a brand that brings those two worlds together.”

If you want to try the Kirk-approved brew for yourself, Banditos comes in 473 mL tall cans and is available at LCBO locations and Longo’s stores across the province, as well as select bars and restaurants.
