How to get to the top of the Prison Tower in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse

15 October 20263 Mins Read

At the top of the Prison Tower in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, you will find the Warrior, one of the initial bosses you must fight to open the gate to the catacombs. To access the floors in the lower part, you must use the adjacent buildings to lower the gates that serve as platforms and swinging spots. However, to pass over the Upper Tower and reach the Roof of the Tower area, where the boss awaits, your acrobatic skills won’t help you.

Below, we explain how to get to the top of the Prison Tower in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and where to find the carpenter’s crane.

[Ed. note: This guide uses screenshots captured from a build still in development at the time of writing.]

How to get to the top of the Prison Tower in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

You’ll find the Prison Tower on the Paris Streets map by heading north from the Gate to the Catacombs and then west. Although you can explore most of the tower, the path to the door that leads to the Roof of the Tower map is blocked. The only way to access is by using a hidden crane.

You learn about the crane from a spirit who is on the western part of the Upper Tower segment. Swing across the two yellow anchors to the west and climb onto the platform with a lever. The spirit is above it, but to reach it, you must follow the path on the left, which contains several traps. Quickly jump from one side of the wall to the other to climb, then swing to a small platform in the left corner of this room (you can break the wall on the right side to reveal a “defense up” collectible). From there, you must drop and time your whip to pull you toward a purple anchor on the left, then another one on the right.

Once you talk to the spirit, you will find the carpenter’s crane sketch beside it, showing an anchor that you must pull to open the door to the crane, and where you can find it. However, deciphering the map is a bit tricky.

If you learned about the crane but can’t find it, don’t worry. The carpenter’s crane is on the northeastern part of the Prison Tower map. First, you must return to the lower part of the tower and head to the same level as the Mirror of Life room. Head west and, before entering the tower, use the purple anchor to jump from the wall to the yellow anchor. Swing back to the tower to reach another purple anchor a bit higher, then jump onto a platform.

To your right, you will see a yellow anchor. Use your whip and swing to the right, where you will find another yellow anchor that has a wooden hexagon above it. Swing on it three times to open the door leading to the crane. Ride it to reach the door that will take you to the Roof of the Tower area where you can face the Warrior.
