Hudson Williams walked around Toronto with a Canadian Tire bag and now everyone wants one, Canada Reviews

5 August 20263 Mins Read

Move over, Trader Joe’s tote bag: Canada has a new if-you-know-you-know bag, and it’s all thanks to Hudson Williams. The Heated Rivalry star has been spotted strolling around Toronto all week with his co-star and bestie Connor Storrie, and while basically every photo of the two of them goes viral, there’s one in particular that caught the eye of fans: the two of them side by side, Williams holding a Canadian Tire plaid tote bag.

The image is so picture-perfect that you would be forgiven for thinking it’s a paid product placement; the pair, dressed in their coordinating denim shorts and crossbody bags, are chatting and laughing while Williams holds the plaid bag. They’re clearly fresh off an errands run, as the bag looks pretty full, with a roll of paper towel peeking out the top.

Canadians will recognize that bag as the one you end up buying when you got more than you planned on your trip to the store and need a bag to lug everything out. But international fans unfamiliar with the retail store had a lot of questions: namely, what’s Canadian Tire? And how do I get my hands on that bag?

ok i did it. a quick walking tour of a Canadian Tire (not canadian tire auto center)
sorry it’s shakey and low because I was holding it near my tummy to not be obvious https://t.co/qbb0BnrIQ0 pic.twitter.com/WC70dGGKv6

Canadian fans even went so far as to film an entire tour of a nearby Canadian Tire store so international fans could get a sense of what they sell. The bag itself, meanwhile, immediately became a hot item, with some people heading to their nearest Canadian Tire and buying up any remaining bags in store.

And according to Eva Salem, senior vice president of marketing and brand for the Canadian Tire Corporation, the Hudson Williams effect is real. “We’ve definitely seen a surge in demand on our plaid reusable tote since Saturday,” she shared over email.

Currently, the tote bag appears to be totally sold out online and in person in the Toronto area — though availability may change based on location. Reviews for the bag online have already flooded with fans who allude the hockey player-shaped reason for their purchase.

“Perfect for the cottage,” one person titled their review. “Good enough for Hudson Williams, good enough for me,” another person wrote.

It’s not the first time that the Hudson Williams stamp of approval was enough to sell out something. When he wore a red barn jacket during his surprise appearance on the episode of SNL that Connor Storrie hosted, the H&M jacket sold out worldwide almost overnight. And a Freddie Frances shirt he was wearing during a casual outing months ago sold out online shortly after photos of his outfit started circulating.

Williams and Storrie will likely be spotted many more times in Toronto as filming for season two of Heated Rivalry starts up. If they can sell out a $1.99 Canadian Tire bag, there’s no way to guess what unexpected accessory they’ll make accidentally viral next! Maybe someone needs to send them a Toronto Public Library tote…
