  International Visitors Spent $21 Billion on U.S. Travel in June 2026

According to data from the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO), international visitors spent more than $21 billion on travel and tourism-related goods and services in the United States during June 2026, up 2.3 percent from June 2025.

From January through June, international visitors spent nearly $124.1 billion in the United States on travel and tourism-related goods and services, down 0.7 percent from the corresponding period in 2025. International visitor spending averaged about $685 million a day during the first half of 2026.

Americans spent more than $18.9 billion on travel abroad in June, down nearly 1 percent from the prior year. The United States recorded a travel and tourism trade surplus of $2.1 billion for the month.

Travel spending totaled nearly $11.9 billion in June, up more than 3 percent from $11.5 billion in June 2025. The category accounted for 57 percent of U.S. travel and tourism exports and included lodging, food, local transportation, recreation, entertainment, gifts and other purchases incidental to foreign travel.

Passenger fare receipts totaled $2.8 billion, up less than one-half of 1 percent from June 2025. The receipts, which represented foreign residents’ spending on international flights operated by U.S. carriers, accounted for 13 percent of total travel and tourism exports.

Education, medical tourism and short-term worker spending totaled $6.3 billion in June, up 1 percent from the prior year. The category, which includes expenditures by border, seasonal and other short-term workers in the United States, accounted for 30 percent of total travel and tourism exports.
