Following the success of Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega, the true-events-inspired crime drama about a phishing and cybercrime ring in an eastern Indian state, Netflix India is reuniting with director Soumendra Padhi for another high-profile Original series. What’s on Netflix has exclusively learned that the yet-untitled show stars Vijay Varma, Rahul Bhat, and Richa Chadha in lead roles.
The series is being described as a contemporary treasure-hunt story. Plot details have been shrouded in secrecy, but sources close to the project say it’s mounted along the lines of the Indiana Jones films, the popular American film franchise centered on a legendary archaeology professor. Billed as a large-scale, ambitious production, the series promises audiences a thrilling mix of adventure, treasure hunts, and ancient mysteries, told in a puzzle-box narrative style, designed to keep them guessing as the story unfolds.
Written by Parveez Shaikh (Darlings), Karan Vyas (Scam 1992), and Soumendra Padhi, the show primarily revolves around three lead characters. Varma plays the treasure hunter at the center of the narrative, while Chadha portrays a police officer. Bhat’s character details are unknown yet. The ensemble cast also includes Kusha Kapila (Maamla Legal Hai) and Ankita Lokhande (Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi). Lokhande, long known for her work in Hindi television, makes her streaming debut with this show. Shooting has wrapped, with post-production going on in full swing, targeting its premiere in mid-2027.
Vijay Varma has been a regular collaborator at Netflix, and this latest treasure hunt series further solidifies their long-standing association. With eight projects as a leading actor since 2020, Varma has the most Netflix India Originals to his credit. He has previously headlined films and shows such as IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Darlings, and Jaane Jaan, among others, and was recently seen in Vikramaditya Motwane’s segment of Lust Stories 3. Coming up next, he will feature in Hansal Mehta’s Family Business, a high-stakes corporate drama series also starring Anil Kapoor in the lead.

For Rahul Bhat, the latest show marks his second collaboration with Netflix following his exceptional performance as DSP Rajesh Tomar in Vikramaditya Motwane’s critically acclaimed Black Warrant. Although the show hasn’t been officially announced yet, Bhat had confirmed doing a Soumendra Padhi show in June 2026. “This is a giant project, the kind Netflix brings to life once in a while and the world stops to watch. My part is wrapped, and I am beyond excited to finally show this to a global audience,” he had revealed to Variety India, while calling the show a “heist series unlike anything Indian cinema has attempted, full of strategy, tension, and moments that will genuinely knock you sideways.” Bhat reunites with the streamer for a new project even as the second season of Black Warrant remains in limbo following reports of its cancellation due to creative differences.
As for Richa Chadha, she previously featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period epic, Heeramandi. Meanwhile, Kusha Kapila has starred in Netflix titles such as Masaba Masaba, Plan A, Plan B, and Ravi Kishan-starrer Maamla Legal Hai, which had its second season premiere in April 2026.
Soumendra Padhi returns to Netflix nearly four years after the second season of Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega in September 2022. In the interval, he directed Alizeh Agnihotri-starrer Farrey (2023), the Hindi remake of Thai heist thriller Bad Genius (2017). The latest Netflix series marks a sharp shift in genre for him: from a grounded cybercrime to a massively mounted adventure drama that aims to take Indian streaming content to another level. Netflix India is leveling up its content production, and this latest title is believed to be a new addition to its push towards large-scale, high-concept original programming.
