Metro Vancouver is getting a waterfront block party that’s free to attend this month

5 June 20263 Mins Read

It might not feel like it weather-wise at the moment, but the season of street festivals is upon us, and there’s a new block party coming to North Vancouver at the end of June that you’ll want to mark down on your calendar.

Formerly known as the Shipyards Festival — a summer sendoff taking place in September — the new and reimagined Lower Lonsdale Block Party will bring people together for a full day of live music and entertainment, great food, and community connection.

And rest assured, there will be plenty for all ages to enjoy here!

In addition to live artists playing onstage at East 1st Street, visitors can check out a plethora of on-street activations from local businesses, a Brewery District Beer Garden, and tons of street games.

It’s the perfect opportunity to grab a meal or a craft beverage from North Vancouver’s iconic Brewery District, see what’s on at The Polygon Gallery, and enjoy some streetside festivities, courtesy of the Lower Lonsdale BIA and Translink Car Free Days of Summer.

It doesn’t hurt that the area is just a quick seabus ride away, either.

The block party will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, along East 1st Street and Lonsdale Avenue.

The sitewide beer garden will feature a wide selection of local craft beers, just as the stage will showcase all kinds of musicians and performing artists, with something for every musical taste.

In addition to a roster of tasty food trucks, there will be a selection of local restaurant pop-ups to check out at the festival.

Looking for more free fun to check out in the area? The weekly Shipyards Night Market is a classic summertime tradition, and this year, organizers have introduced special “Street Editions” on select Fridays this June and July. These open-air block parties will take over East 1st Street between Lonsdale Avenue and St. George’s Avenue.

Needless to say, there’s plenty to look forward to in Lonsdale this month. All that’s left to do is send this to your group chats and stay tuned for the official artist lineup, which should be coming soon.

Summer vibes are right around the corner.

When: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Time: Noon to 7 p.m.
Where: East 1st Street and Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
Cost: Free admission
