Warwa Woods is a thrilling Halloween event that only comes to Alberta one weekend a year, and it’s back with what they called their “most ambitious haunted experience yet.”
Camp Warwa is a youth camp in Alberta which, according to its website, spans across 23 acres of land in Darwell. During the summer, over 6,000 youth venture to the camp for fun outdoor vibes, but as soon as fall hits, Halloween strikes the camp in favour of Warwa Woods, its annual Fall Fundraiser event and haunted forest Halloween event.
All of the proceeds from this event go toward its Friendship Fund, which allows low-income families to provide their campers with the summer camp experience. So, if you decide to go, you’re not only attending a thrilling Halloween event, but you’re helping support the community that holds it each year.
What to expect at this year’s Warwa Woods experience
Mark your calendars, because the Warwa Woods experience will be returning from Friday, Oct. 23, to Sunday, Oct. 25, operating from 7 to 10 p.m. each evening.
The theme for this year is The Lady of the Lake.
“Long before Camp Warwa, a small fishing village stood where the woods now grow. When failed harvests and illness swept through the community, fear turned to blame. Accused of witchcraft, a young woman was sacrificed to the lake,” reads the fictional story premise written by Camp Warwa.
For this year, there will be two immersive trails to explore instead of just one, as well as “expanded storytelling,” as stated on its website.
Visitors are also welcome to join the team around the campfire before or after their walkthrough. There will be both snacks and warm drinks available at an additional cost for those interested.
Where can I get tickets?
If you’re ready to race into this terrifying forest experience, tickets are already on sale online for those interested. You will have to create an account and select your time and date before you can add your ticket options.
Tickets start at $22 for individuals, $77 for family bookings (with a maximum of four people), and $175 for group bookings (with a maximum of 10 people). For those interested in booking a group of over 20 people, the camp asks folks to email them at info@campwarwa.org.
