Old Strathcona Farmers Market’s annual Harvest Festival is back this September, bringing along live entertainment and free fall activities for the whole family.
To celebrate the autumnal season, the Old Strathcona Farmers Market, Edmonton’s biggest, original indoor farmers market, is hosting a harvest festival. This upcoming weekend, the festival will feature a whole bunch of free activities like its petting zoo, scavenger hunt, and vintage car show.
If you’re ready to get into the harvest spirit, this local festival is definitely going to do the trick.
What to expect during the Harvest Festival
To start off the weekend, Old Strathcona Farmers Market is offering a free beginner’s yoga class at 9 a.m., before the festival officially kicks off.
Visitors are invited to bring their own mat and enjoy a class before heading into the festival and market. If you do decide to hop in for a stretch, visitors can stick around for a complimentary tea tasting from Teafluencer. For those interested, you can register online for free.
The festival officially begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, with opening remarks from members of the community. Following that, the harvest fest will be in full swing until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27.
As listed by the farmers market, this upcoming weekend festival will feature a huge slate of free activities and events, including:
- DJ Kris Harvey and more live music
- A vintage car show
- Giant outdoor games
- A petting zoo
- Bannock-making demos (both Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m)
- Giveaways
- Vendor scavenger hunt
- Roving mascots
- Code Ninjas STEM booth and coding activities
- Face painting
- Caricatures
- Balloons
- Glitter tattoos
- Henna tattoos
- A lemonade truck
- A photobooth
- A kettle corn truck
On top of the exciting Harvest Festival activities, you’ll still be able to shop at the market itself and check out all of the booths featured this weekend.
