Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo, Curio Collection by Hilton, has appointed David Lurie as general manager.

Lurie has more than four decades of hospitality experience at luxury, independent and branded properties across the United States. His career began after he earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality administration from Florida International University. He then spent two years working in professional kitchens outside Lausanne, Switzerland.

After returning to Florida, Lurie joined Miami Airport Hilton. He spent 15 years with Hilton in hotel operations and leadership roles, concluding with a leadership role at The Beverly Hilton & Towers.

Lurie has also held leadership positions at Carmel Mission Inn in Carmel; The Givenchy Hotel & Spa in Palm Springs; La Mansion del Rio Hotel and Watermark Hotel & Spa in San Antonio; and St. Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder.

Most recently, Lurie served as general manager of Hotel Amarano in Burbank, where he led an operational turnaround.

Outside hotel operations, Lurie founded free2b Foods, a wholesale snack manufacturer ranked in the top 12 for food allergen-free snack producers. He grew the business to more than $4 million in annual revenue and more than 20,000 points of retail distribution before returning to hospitality.

Lurie’s experience as an entrepreneur and in hotel operations has informed his approach to operations, team development and guest service.
